Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (Altitude 1400 m)

Nepal Big Mountain Travel believes in persistence and belongingness. On day 1, arrival day, a representative in formal attire with garlands (Mala) and traditional Buddhist ceremonial scarf (Khata) will welcome you. This is a traditional welcoming gesture of Nepalese. The representative will guide you to the hotel. You can wander around the streets of Thamel and explore shops during the late afternoon. Then, a cultural dinner is presented overnight at Tourist Standard hotel in Kathmandu or similar class.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Syange (1100 m/3608 ft.): 8 - 10 hours  

After your refreshing breakfast, you go to about 8-hour route from Kathmandu to Syange. It is made sure that you are comfortable on the trip with the appointment of an experienced driver.

To break the monotony like most of the trips, the bus rides through the shortest route possible proving the natural beauty of Nepal like the mountain ranges, flowing rivers and many more. Day 3: Trek from Syange to Dharapani (1,860 m/6,430 ft.): 7 - 8 hours

After your fresh morning breakfast, you begin the wonderful journey. You cross a suspension bridge and after a steep climb, you enter the vicinity of Manang region at the village named Tal. It is amazing to know the reason behind a landlocked country is rich in water resource as you see several waterfalls forming a river by the sandy beaches.

Many trekkers grab this offer to gain the joy of the paradise of the paddy, wheat and rice fields, and beautiful, colourful rhododendron forests. Passing through the village of Kodo, you can tell it is one of the biggest villages in the Manang valley. Day 4: Dharapani to Chame (2,610 m/8,891 ft.): 5 - 6 hours

A new day begins with breakfast for reenergizing. On the third day, you trek from Dharapani (6265 ft.) to Chame (8891ft). As the altitude increases, you will get the sight of beautiful mountain peaks above you. You still have the refreshing air as you pass through the oak, pine and fir forest alongside the river. Relax in the hot spring in the journey. You will stay at the headquarters of Manang district, Chame for the night.

The adventure starts as you wake up and move to the start of the steep and narrow valley. You get to see the marvellous curved rock face, Paungda Danda rock face, rising 1500m from the river. With the addition to that, you are also mind blown by the beauty of nature as the mountains Annapurna 2 and Pisang peak come across your naked eye. You get to view the Manang valley for the day. You will come across the Buddhist and Tibetan culture as you are introduced to the biggest monastery of the place, the Barge monastery. You can expect the Tibetan Buddhists to have a slightly unique lifestyle. Staggering views of north face Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho and Pisang Peak can be seen as you walk through the trail from Pisang via Geru. You can find the real purpose of the visit as you see the incredible Tilicho which will energize you for the further trip. Today, you rest at a guesthouse or teahouse in Manang.

Day 7: Manang: Acclimatization day

Five days of the trek in the cold and windy climate demands rest for the trekkers for the purpose of acclimatization. This day you go for a short hike exploring the beauty of Manang. As many of our trekkers suggested, only a day is not enough to analyze the beauty of the gorgeous mountains, we provide an extra day in Manang for your satisfaction. You can spend the day admiring Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang and Chulu Peaks, roam around Manang Village and Monasteries in Gangapurna Lake and Base Camp. For the safety of trekkers, Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraga village is contacted for two-way communication where you will be briefed about acute Mountain Sickness., its symptoms, and preventions. The same lodge is taken for the recreation.

Day 8: Manang to Siri Kharka (4060 m/13,320 ft.): 4-5 hours

After the acclimatization, you start with easy trekking to habituate slowly with high convenience. A higher altitude is obtained through the upper route which follows a path down to a river surrounded by coniferous forests. After 3 hours of walk, you can analyze the Tibetan settlement Khangsar. Your last destination for today, Siri Kharkha will be an hour further. Along the journey, you will be rewarded with a clear view of Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu. Your last destination for today is your stay for overnight.

Day 9: Siri Kharka to Yak Kharka (4060 m/13,020 ft.): 4-5 hours

Early in the morning, you start your journey from Khangsar village. You have the chance to enter into the Tare Gumba, a thousand-year-old monastery. You explore the rock walls of the area that help you keep warm in the cold weather. If you have ever imagined the feeling of the old stone houses, this is your chance. Now, you go to the Thorang Khola valley and experience going across a river. You can observe the steep plateaus to reach Yak Kharka. Day 10: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi: (4525 m/14501 ft.): 3-4 hours

The early morning trek starts with single layered attire to the Kone Khola valley. You then reach Letdar to view the mountain yaks on the way with a view of mountains and landscapes. On our way, you get the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. Grab the surreal beauty of the multicoloured slopes with different hues of orange, yellows, and browns. After climbing uphill for a short duration, you reach Thorong Phedi at a guesthouse for a stay.

Day 11: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416 m/17764 ft.) to Muktinath (3,800 m/12,467 ft.): 7 - 8 hours

You wake up early this morning at 3 to complete today’s task. You have to push yourselves through the icy air and high altitude but the view from the pass will make it totally worth it. You will see a panorama of majestic Himalayan peaks extending northwards into Tibet, at the back you can see several of the main peaks of Annapurna. You then descend all the way to Muktinath a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means “Hundred Waters”. You stay overnight at the guesthouse.

Day 12: Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani (1,200 m/3937 ft.): 6 - 8 hours

You visit the sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists, Muktinath temple in the Muktinath. You continue your fantastic journey to Tatopani in a private vehicle. It is a place consisting of hot spring which is a targeted destination for many national and international tourists. You can see the importance of the place as you reach there to view the crowd of people to enjoy the time in the hot spring with their loved ones. You spend the night at a guesthouse after the relaxing soak yourself in the hot spring.

Day 13: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850 m/9,350 ft.): 7 - 8 hours

Inauguration of the trip from Tatopani to Ghorepani is done on the fourteenth day. This trip takes 7-8 hours. You pass the villages of Sikha and Chitre to experience the lifestyle of ethnic Thakali people. Panoramic terraced farmland with mountains all around amazes you throughout the journey. Forests that are filled with colourful rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, birch, magnolia magnify the luscious beauty of the whole trip. Finally, you reach Ghorepani which offers you a view from the ridge top. You spend the overnight at the Ghorepani.

Day 14: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara: 5-6 hours trek and 1-hour drive

Today you get to experiment with your photography skills to capture the beauty of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri massif including Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mt Manaslu and surrounding rice terrace. A target to reach the altitude of 3210m to Poonhill is set as sunrise starts your day. The place is inhabited by Pun Gurungs and Magars, full of birds and sub-tropical valleys. You get to experience the mountain scrapes to boast over and recommend your friends and family to visit next. After visiting Poonhill, you will start your way back to Nayapul which is an intense trek. Then a sublime drive to Pokhara awaits you. You spend overnight at Pokhara in a 3-star hotel.

The 5-hour route, you will be engaged observe the beauty of Pokhara passing through Himalayan Rivers – Trishuli, Marsyangdi, and Seti. The Trekking Group

The trek includes a trekking group of 2-11 members. As a member of the trekking group, you will receive the reward of one assistant guide with the addition to one main guide or leader to gain as much information from the trekking route possible. The group can be customized as per your need by providing the necessary information. For the details, please refer to the additional information.

The group is under the supervision of the main guide. The main guide considers the directions information and safety concerns. This will make your trip safer.

You stay at teahouses throughout the trek. All accommodations are on a twin-sharing basis. After the trek, trekkers make use of Nepal teahouses – small hotels for an overnight stay and home cooked meals.

There will be fewer difficulties as the need to cart food and tents are reduced. Quality depends on the number of customers as well as competition. Hence, popular routes like the EBC Trek and treks in the Annapurna Region have a wide variety of quality teahouses. However, other areas have basic teahouses. The bakery is the attraction of teahouses where you can choose from various sweet dishes.

You will be able to experience the native and ancient lifestyle. With higher elevations, there are fewer chances of good flushing mechanisms, making the tour more interesting for the challengers. It is highly recommended to use four seasons’ sleeping bag and earplugs for a better experience. You will have facilities of plug points and lighting which gives you unique experience of convenient trekking. You can upgrade your room and hotel with a reasonable extra charge. However, it might be difficult to find a single room at higher elevations.


The meals also provide you with a slight pinch of cultural taste. It comprises of welcome dinner and breakfast. Firstly, welcome embraces the refreshments after you reach the arrival destination, Kathmandu.

Secondly, you can enjoy the traditional Nepali cuisine that is a blend of rice, lentils, vegetables, and pickle. We respect and provide the choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian food. Lastly, breakfast consists of organic tea or fresh plump of organic fruits. You are given a choice of a range of bakeries and cookies. Breakfasts are only provided in the city tours.

The trip excludes lunch and dinner so that you can explore the multiple choices of cuisines in Nepal without being bound by the travel agency. However, you can choose meals according to your preferences excluding the provision at your own expense. You are given a choice of a range of cookies, omelettes, porridge or boiled eggs.

Nepal Big Mountain also provides a provision of lunch and dinner for the minimum amount of extra USD 25 per person per day for city tours. In addition to it, during the trekking period, for the prerequisites of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the minimum amount of extra USD 40 per person per day is provided such that you have the convenience of easy access to meals throughout the trek.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

The traveller must specify any kinds of sickness, diseases or phobias before the trip because Nepal Big Mountain believes every traveller needs to be under perfect care and guidance to enjoy the trip with the best convenience possible.

There are high chances of altitude sickness to many trekkers since the trek covers the altitude of 5416m. Along with it, there is a need for the trekkers to be familiar with the cold weather. It is essential for the trekkers to have the common vaccinations. If there are any children travelling, it must be on the guidance of their guardian.

The trip is not suitable for pregnant women and people with an adverse health condition.  For children who are under 14-15, it is best to hire porters to carry the heavier equipment, since the children will not be able to manage the heavy loads over rough terrain, and you do not want to have to carry all their stuff as well as your own. The same can be said of elderly people, over sixty may be able to make the long trek to ACT, but they need to be physically fit and have no serious conditions.

The trek can take you to remote areas. Following are the requirements:

Best Time to Travel

Deciding the best time for hiking is itself an adventurous elimination game. It is not completely unfavourable to visit during the other seasons. However, for the best experience, a clear season is recommended. The months from December to February are cold seasons and May brings summer vibes. If you are interested in a trip in your choice of season, it is a remarkable choice for you. However, as a travel agency, Nepal Big Mountain seeks the best experience for a trekker. This trek is highly recommended in the month of October-November or mid-March-mid April when the season is clear.

The choice of these months will give you a great chance to view the beauty of Himalayas at their best.
