It is also the biggest town in the entire Everest region.
Day 4 is dedicated to acclimatization. We spend this day acclimatizing and adjusting to the surrounding at high elevations. We can spend this day doing a lot of activities like; hiking to the Syangboche Airport near the Everest view hotel. This viewpoint offers spectacular views of the majestic Himalayas along with the glorious sunrise and sunset over the panorama of Khumbu peaks. We can also do a short trek to a museum that is renowned for its exhibits of the traditional customs of the local Sherpa people.
We head towards Phortse Thanga and the trail leading here is steep and covered with lush rhododendron forest, juniper, and huge conifers. This trekking trail becomes magical during spring. This trail passes through summer settlements and Yak Kharkas. You get a chance to witness the mesmerizing views of Khumbi La and Tawache throughout the day.
On day 6, we will climb the ridge to witness the spectacular views both to Kengtega, down the valley, or upwards towards Cho Oyu, and then finally descend to a river and elevate steeply to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier. We will eventually reach Machherma by early noon.
On day 7, we reach our main destination i.e Gokyo (4,790m). This camp will be our base for 2 nights as we will enjoy a couple of sightseeing and hiking around Gokyo.
Early in the morning, we have a steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri at an elevation of 5,483m. There are ample rewards for those who attempt this trip – you get stunning views of the super Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa glacier, and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas, including the giants Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang.
Following this trail, we descend towards Dole. We wake up to the fresh mountain air at Namche and continue our trek to Dole (4190m). This is a relatively easier trail, passing numerous valleys and crossing lush rhododendron, coniferous, and juniper forests. Spring is an ideal season for trekking in Nepal. You will also witness the local Sherpas with their herds of yak grazing and green slopes. Then we reach Dole and spend the night at a guest house there. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
We continue the journey further to a classic Sherpa village at Khumjung. Then, we descend back to Namche Bazaar leaving the majestic mountains behind.
On day 11, we return back to Lukla where we started the trek in the first place. We will enjoy some spare time by reflecting on our mesmerizing trip and celebrating the successful trek. We can also take this time to explore Lukla.
We will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. This is a perfect opportunity to sit back, relax and reminisce back at our journey. Our guides will readily help you with sightseeing and shopping. You will enjoy the farewell dinner and spend the night in Kathmandu.
We conclude our trip on day 13. Our official representative will drop you at the Tribhuwan International Airport, 3 hours prior to your flight back home.
