Phase 1: Begin Rickshaw Ride from Thamel
Phase 2: Sightseeing at Kathmandu Durbar Square
Phase 3: Departure to Thamel
Your Kathmandu Half-Day Rikshaw Ride starts with an exciting Rickshaw Ride from Thamel. Thamel is a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu known for its vibrant atmosphere, street food, and shops selling souvenirs and other essentials. Your guide will meet you in Thamel and escort you to the elevated Rickshaw that offers a clear view of the places you’ll visit.
The ride begins through Thamel’s streets adorned with beautiful and colorful arts, restaurants, and hotels. You’ll then make your way to Asan, one of the oldest food markets in Nepal, where you’ll be able to witness the bustling atmosphere of this small but busy area. The market is filled with an array of spices and vegetables that you can choose to buy and take back home.
After the visit to Asan, your next stop is Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historical and cultural site in the heart of the city. The site is home to several monuments, temples, and palaces that were built by the late kings of the Malla and Shah Dynasty. You’ll get to witness the handmade art of ancient Nepal culture and learn about the lifestyle of the late kings in the 12th to the 18th century.
The major attractions at Durbar Square include Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju Mandir, Hanuman Temple, Royal Palace, and Kal Bhairab temple. You’ll also visit the home of Lord Shiva, Parvati and the living goddess, Kumari, which is a divine and religious site. You can choose to refresh yourself by trying the special “Lassi”, a sweet drink made of curd, or by having a cup of tea in Basantapur.
After the exciting tour of Durbar Square, you’ll have the opportunity to try street food or dine at your favorite restaurant in the area. Your guide will be available to provide you with detailed information about the places you visited and the local food and drinks available. After a fulfilling day, you’ll hop back on the Rickshaw and make your way back to Thamel, your original departure point, to conclude an unforgettable experience.
